CCTV Policy for Members of Ground Hammer Training Centre Ltd. (or ‘Ground Hammer’ or ‘the gym’)

Purpose

The purpose of this CCTV Policy is to ensure the safety and security of members, staff, and visitors at Ground Hammer, as well as to protect the property and equipment. This document outlines how Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) systems are used and managed in accordance with applicable laws and regulations to maintain privacy and security for all.


Scope

This policy applies to all members, visitors, staff, and contractors who enter the premises of Ground Hammer.


1. Objectives of CCTV Monitoring

CCTV monitoring is used for the following purposes:

  • To ensure the safety and security of all gym members, visitors, and staff.
  • To prevent, deter, and investigate unauthorized access, theft, vandalism, or misconduct.
  • To monitor adherence to health and safety guidelines.
  • To assist in resolving disputes and incidents that occur on the premises.
  • To comply with legal obligations and insurance requirements.

2. Locations of CCTV Cameras

CCTV cameras are installed in key areas of the facility:

  • Gym main entrance – main car park.
  • The martial arts matted area.
  • Fitness area.
  • Kitchenette block.

Note: Cameras are visible and easily recognised.


3. Data Handling and Privacy

  • Data Protection: All CCTV footage is stored securely and accessed only by authorised personnel.
  • Retention Period: Recorded footage will be retained for 30 days, after which it will be automatically deleted unless required for investigation or legal purposes.
  • Access Control: CCTV footage is only accessible to authorised personnel for legitimate purposes as defined in this policy. Access requests by external parties (e.g., law enforcement) will be granted only under legal authority.
  • Privacy: Cameras are not installed in private areas such as locker rooms, restrooms, or shower facilities.

4. Member Responsibilities

  • Conduct: Members are expected to conduct themselves appropriately and abide by gym rules, knowing their activities may be monitored.
  • Reporting: Any suspicious activity or concerns regarding CCTV use should be reported to gym management.

5. Rights of Members

Members have the right to:

  • Be informed about the use of CCTV on the premises.
  • Request access to footage that involves them in the event of a specific incident, subject to applicable laws and regulations.
  • Raise concerns or complaints regarding the use of CCTV through designated instructors.

6. Compliance with Laws

This CCTV policy complies with the Human Rights Act, and the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act. Ground Hammer ensures that CCTV use is transparent, proportionate, and limited to the stated objectives.


7. Breaches of the Policy

Non-compliance with this policy by staff or members may result in disciplinary action, termination of membership, or legal consequences as applicable.
